Great news! Houma Christian School will reopen on Monday, October 4th for all students and staff for all-day instruction. Our staff is excited to welcome back all our awesome students to school. We were notified today that the material to repair the metal roofs will arrive in approximately 10 – 14 days. There may be a possibility that the students will have virtual learning for two days in late October to allow the contractors to complete the roofs. We will keep everyone updated as we get exact dates. All students may wear a HCS spirit shirt and approved jeans through December. Students may also wear regular school uniforms if they prefer. Please check the Warrior Day dress code guidelines in the HCS Student Handbook. Updated modified school calendar will be released later this week to reflect the make-up days.

All Warrior families are invited to visit us on campus today before 1:30! Free jambalaya, free cleaning supplies, free garage sale, free snowballs!!! If you are not personally in need of these items, please still come by and take for others in need. We would love to see you!!

When we return to school on October 4th, students will have the option to wear either their school uniform or our typical Warrior Day dress down items. There will be no charge and it will be optional. The free dress down option will be every day until Christmas break.

We are excited to announce that Westminster Christian Academy will be coming to our campus with a group of volunteers on Saturday, September 25th to bring supplies to distribute and also help clean and restore our campus. We are so grateful for their willingness to come help us get back on our feet. We are inviting all our HCS families to come by between 11:00 - 12:30 on Saturday to pick up supplies and also a plate of jambalaya for lunch. BETA Club will also be having a free give away of clothes and household items. Please come by as our awesome Warrior teachers and staff will also be here to greet our students. Hope to see you here!

All HCS families are invited to complete this ‘Needs Assessment’ by clicking the link below. We are gathering information to see where our student population is as far as: what happened with their homes, what they may need, and how we can help. We are asking that the form be completed by Thursday evening. Our school has been adopted by Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas. They will be visiting us this coming Saturday to bless our Warrior families and staff. While there is no guarantee of exactly what type of help we can expect on Saturday, we want to be prepared. Completing the form will help us gather this information quickly and efficiently. We will be announcing more details in regards to this Saturday’s event. Stay tuned to the HCS app/website for the most updated information.

Update: Monday, September 20, 2021
Good news. The HCS campus is currently buzzing with contractors working hard to get our campus back up and running. We have roofing and water mitigation contractors at the school making repairs to the damaged buildings. Houma Christian School has several buildings with shingles and/ or metal roofs. By the end of today, all of the shingle buildings should be completely done. One of our biggest obstacles is waiting for the insurance adjuster to make a prompt decision and approval for the metal roofs. Please pray for favor as the insurance company makes a decision for a replacement or repair for the metal roofs. The buildings that have metal roofs include the gym, sanctuary, and elementary hall. The contractors are confident to get everything done quickly when the material is ordered and shipped. That is why it is important to get a quick decision from the adjuster.
We are still targeting Monday, October 4th as our return date. Please be in prayer that God removes any obstacles that would cause any delays. Again, we will keep everyone updated through this process. I have attached some pictures of the work being done at the school.

This entire event was made possible through donations. Thank you to everyone who gave. This is our community and these are our people. We encourage every family to help your neighbor and shine the light of Jesus during this time.

The link below contains information in reference to tuition and enrollment post Hurricane Ida. We pray you are safe and well. https://5il.co/z275

Houma Christian School has set Monday, October 4th as our reopening date for in-person learning at school. We will start with live and in-person instruction and not virtual learning. We are working closely with our contractors to get all necessary repairs completed to ensure that the campus is safe and secure. We will send out updates every Monday to provide everyone with the progress being made. We will have to modify the official school calendar to adjust for missed instructional minutes. We are planning to have the new calendar posted in the next couple of weeks. We are anticipating that Thanksgiving and Christmas break will remain the same so our contractors can come on campus to finalize repairs. We appreciate everyone’s support, patience, and encouragement as we work hard to get the school back open. We love and miss everyone. *Warriors Strong! “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” {Romans 15:13}

The work day that was scheduled for tomorrow has been canceled due to weather. We will keep everyone posted on a rescheduled date.
